European Air Corridors – We’ll Be There!

While visiting Madeira International Airport Social Party (PSD) deputy Paulo Neves, made a point of highlighting Madeira and Porto Santo as ideal holiday destinations. “Madeira and Porto Santo are currently the safest holiday destinations in the world, and with the new passenger control systems recently introduced at both airports, coupled with the efficiency and professionalism of those who work there, we are continually working to boost passenger confidence and defend the health of the populations of both islands.”

Portugal – Take Your PCR Test in Your Country of Residence

According to an order published today in Diario da Republica, non-Portuguese citizens, individuals without a residence in Portugal, or those who arrive without a negative PCR test certificate will have to take a test at their arrival airport and pay for it themselves. In addition, the airline with whom they travelled with will be fined €1,000 per passenger.

425 Passengers Arrived in Madeira

A total of 425 passengers, on flights from Lisbon, Porto and the Azores, disembarked this Wednesday at Madeira Airport, on the day that the new Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing controls were introduced to screen and test those who have arrived without a PCR test certificate. Of the 425 passengers, 243 were screened at the airports new testing facilities.  

Aerial Firefighting Equipment Needed All Year Round

The president of the Regional Civil Protection Service of Madeira, Captain José Dias, today defended his views that the way forward in the fight against fires in the archipelago is the provision of an aerial firefighting capability, comprising a helicopter, support teams and equipment, throughout the year. Defending his decision he said "the POCIF (Implementation of the Operational Plan for Combating Forest Fires) helicopter has been a major asset since arriving in Madeira.
