With the weather being so unpredictable make sure that you carry a light rain mac, wear good stout shoes and use walking poles. Check weather reports as the weather in the mountains and coastal regions can be very different to that in Funchal or low-lying areas. Be prepared and remember ‘No one died from not going on a walk.’
