New Covid-19 Airport Screening Unit

The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, and other government officials recently visited new Covid-19 Screening and Surveillance Unit at Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo.

As of the 1st of July, this unit will be used for the screening and epidemiological surveillance of all disembarking passengers.

The unit comprises two lanes: one for passengers who have the results from their Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test (taken up to 72 hours before departure from their country of origin), and the second for those passengers travelling without a test. In this case the unit can test up to 25 people simultaneously.

All visitors arriving to the island will also be monitored through the app MADEIRASAFE.
