For the third consecutive day, Carreiros do Monte were forced to suspend their activity due to bad weather conditions. The recent heavy rains, especially in the Monte area, have compromised the safety of the toboggan.
“We are totally dependent on the weather. When it rains a lot, the safety conditions are no longer met for us to work,” explained a member of staff for Carreiros do Monte.
According to the same source, “on Monday we did not open all day, yesterday we closed at 13:00, and today we had to stop at 12:30, all because of the rain.”
The official reinforced that the priority is to ensure the safety of tourists and workers. “It’s just a matter of time and safety, nothing more,” he assured, adding that, “whenever possible, information about the closure is communicated. Although today, due to the hustle and bustle, it is not always possible to do so promptly.”
