Saturday in the Park: Pollinators Talk

Pollinating insects and their importance in ecosystems will be in focus on the talk given at the Funchal Ecological Park this Saturday, July 26th, as part of the “Saturdays in the Park” program.

This initiative will take place at the Ecological Park, between 10:00  and 13:00.  During this time, participants will get to know more about insects. Under the title ‘Insects and pollination: The invisible connections of Nature,’ the talk promises to continue to provide unique experiences of contact with nature and our need to understand the vital importance of pollinators.”

The session will be overseen by biologist Hugo Silva, a doctoral student in Biological Sciences at the University of Madeira, and will feature a presentation followed by a field trip for direct observation of pollinators.”

The Funchal City Council thus invites “all citizens, especially nature lovers, to participate in this excellent opportunity to deepen knowledge about insects, and learn how they sustain life in ecosystems.”

Session Programme:

10:00 am – Presentation on insects, pollinators.

10:30 am – Field trip for observation of pollinators.

Notes:

  • It should be noted that the session includes a field component, so please wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing.
  • Participation is free, but subject to prior registration.
  • It should be noted that the number of places is limited to 20 participants.
