Four Tourists Rescued

Four Portuguese tourists, aged 23, 29, 52, and 55, were rescued during the early hours of yesterday, after becoming disoriented while walking along Levada do Norte.

According to what was possible to ascertain, the occurrence began late Wednesday night, when authorities were alerted to the disappearance of the group. The search operations lasted for several hours and were only completed when the group was found at 03:00.

According to a source from the Regional Civil Protection Service, the four women “were found and returned without the need for medical assistance.” The tourists only became disoriented along the way and did not suffer any injuries.

The operation mobilised resources from the Regional Civil Protection Service, the GNR, and the Forest Police Corps.
