A 43-year-old fisherman was rescued by the Navy this morning from the 'Lontra Marinha', who was sailing 30 nautical miles off the southeast coast, after an alert was received by the Funchal Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Subcentre (MRSC Funchal) stating that a crew member felt unwell. The request for help was received at 10:57, and the rescued fisherman later disembarked at Caniçal pier at 1:32 pm.

According to the Navy the victim, a 57-year-old man, had deep cuts to his face made by a hook.

The Volunteer Firefighters of Câmara de Lobos have confirmed that they rescued two abandoned kittens from a levada in the area of Caminho das Preces, Câmara de Lobos, this morning (04/07).
Since the 1st of July, the IFCN (Institute of Forests, Nature and Conservation) has been monitoring an injured and weak Monk seal. The animals situation was first made known through the SOS Vida Selvagem line, and the mammal is being closely watched by the IFCN and the GNR.
