Starting from the 26th of June, the municipality of Câmara de Lobos will resume its Animal Cause campaign, which will allow dog and cat owners to have their pets vaccinated and microchipped.
This morning, Madeira Volunteer Firefighters (BVM) rescued a puppy, whose legs had been broken and was left dumped in a box in Rua do Matadouro. On finding the poor little mite, the BVM immediately transported the injured puppy to a veterinary clinic for treatment.

Home improvement Company, Assistência na Hora, has donated 200 kg of dog food to the Madeira Sanctuary Association to enable them to feed all the dogs in their care. A new species of insect was discovered in Madeira by Énio Freitas and Dora Aguin-Pombo, members of the University of Madeira who recently published their study in the European Journal of Taxonomy. The new species, named Cixius wollastoni Freitas & Aguin-Pombo 2021 (Also known as a plant hopper), is in recognition of Thomas H. Wollaston, a pioneer in the study of Madeira's entomological fauna.
