The Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters and the Public Security Police (PSP) rescued a man last night who was standing on the Pináculo viewpoint precipice.
The emergency services received the distress call at 22:30 from a passer-by, who spotted a man in his 40s standing on the balcony.
By the time the fire brigade arrived, Public Security Police officers had been able to talk the man down. Although uninjured, he was immediately transported to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
