Moo’ve Over

It was a bull earlier in the week that caused a commotion, and today, a cow was seen strolling along the streets of Funchal, namely, at the  Praça da ASSICOM roundabout on Estrada Monumental, causing both consternation and concern to pedestrians and motorists alike.  Apparently, the cow comes from Areeiro, São Martinho.

New Adapted Uber Law

Under a new Uber Law, Madeira will allow a maximum of 40 TVDE vehicles to operate on the island, with a maximum of 3 vehicles per operator. These are the main changes to the national legislation that will be approved by the Regional Assembly today, the 24th of June. 

PCP Defends the Islands Cherry Producers

This week, Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) deputy Ricardo Lume visited the parish of Curral das Freiras to discuss with the local population and farmers the brutal loss of cherry and sour cherry production in the parish due to the extreme weather conditions that have impacted negatively on crop production.  In addition, the deputy also wanted to present a legislative initiative drawn up by the PCP which aims to guarantee support for cherry producers during this difficult time.

We Need a Vaccine Strategy

During a meeting of the Commission on Public Health, Food Safety and Environment (ENVI) in the European Parliament, Socialist MEP, Sara Cerdas, has requested information from the European Commissioner for Health, Stella Kyriakides, on the European strategy for the widespread Covid-19 vaccinations and distribution among the Member States.
