Estreito Câmara de Lobos – Harvest Festival Cancelled

The Estreito Câmara de Lobos Parish Council and Estreito Cultural and Recreational Association (ACRE) has announced that, in view of the current pandemic and due to health and safety guidelines with regards to social distancing, they have cancelled the Estreito 2020 Harvest Festival which was scheduled to take place between the 11th and 13th of September in the village of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos.

Support for Farmers Guaranteed

During a presidential visit to Lamaceiros, Porto Moniz, where Miguel Albuquerque visited a three-hectare vineyard owned by Manuel Ramos Lucas and dedicated to the growing of Verdelho grapes, the President assured farmers that the government will continue to support agriculture and entrepreneurs within the sector.

Inspections on the Increase

Due to some establishments non-compliance of the new Covid-19 laws, the President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque has categorically stated that the Madeira security authorities will increase the number of inspections carried out on commercial premises, especially at night.  In his statement, the President said "I think that, at this moment, we cannot relax. We are in the middle of a pandemic crisis, we have a situation in which we cannot allow potential contamination risks to occur.  We have to do everything possible to avoid any future problems." 

Restaurants can request “Clean & Safe Seal”

The attribution of the “Clean & Safe Seal”, already available for Local Lodging accommodations (“AL”), will be extended to restaurants and cafés. Completely free, voluntary and automatically issued on the spot, the “Clean & Safe Seal” visually reflects the operators’ commitment to the guidelines from the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).…
