Due to some establishments non-compliance of the new Covid-19 laws, the President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque has categorically stated that the Madeira security authorities will increase the number of inspections carried out on commercial premises, especially at night. In his statement, the President said “I think that, at this moment, we cannot relax. We are in the middle of a pandemic crisis, we have a situation in which we cannot allow potential contamination risks to occur. We have to do everything possible to avoid any future problems.”
He went on to say ‘We are slowly re-opening the islands economy, but to do so, we have to remain on the ball. We have opened the airports. There are people coming in from contaminated areas, so we must be aware, and that means maintaining social distancing and adhering to current hygiene measures.
