Missing Man Found

José Arlindo Andrade, the man who went missing yesterday, after having escaped from the hospital where he was scheduled to undergo a stomach operation, was found last night, apparently in good health, in the Lazareto area, in Funchal, by an off duty firefighter, who had seen his photograph in local newspaper, JM News.

Man Flees Hospital

Sixty-one-year old, José Arlindo Jesus Andrade from Camacha, has been missing since this morning, after he fled from the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital hours before undergoing emergency surgery.

As part of a tourist initiative the municipality of Porto Moniz has launched their "Porto Moniz Revitaliza + Voucher Card.' Throughout October, all visitors who eat in local restaurants or stay overnight in one of the municipalities hotels will receive a free entry pass for the Madeira Aquarium.

Fatal Fall

Emergency services were called this afternoon (29th), after someone fell into a ravine in the Prainha area of Caniçal. 

Although, information is sketchy, the emergency services have confirmed that the fall was fatal, and that the recovery of the body has been passed over to the competent authorities.

Christmas and End of Year Celebrations Will Take Place

The Madeira Tourism Secretary said today (27th), that tenders for the traditional Christmas and New Year celebrations in the region have already been launched, but the programmes will be adapted to ensure that all safety regulations are met, stated the Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus. While celebrating World Tourism Day, he said, “We have already launched the contests and we have some surprises in store for Madeira during the Christmas period and the End of Year celebrations.”

Horários do Funchal – We Have Reached an Agreement

The management of Horários do Funchal (HF) announced this morning that it had reached an agreement with the Union of Road Workers and Metallurgical Activities of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (STRAMM), "concerning the protection of the Single Agent subsidy, as well as the payment of the allowance that replaced the Single Agent subsidy to drivers who did not work during the pandemic."
