The Portuguese Labour Party (PTP), through its spokesperson Raquel Coelho, has described as “an insult to the intelligence of the Madeiran people” the statements made by the Regional Secretary for the Economy, José Manuel Rodrigues, regarding the projected impact of the Faial golf course, which he claims will create 780 jobs and generate 10 million euros in wealth.
“Perhaps José Manuel Rodrigues has discovered the cure for poverty and unemployment through golf courses?” the party leader remarked ironically.
According to the PTP, the secretary appears to have exchanged the Economy portfolio for “astrological forecasts.”
“In a style worthy of tarot reader Maya and her tarot cards, the Regional Government is attempting to dazzle citizens with unrealistic predictions, selling illusions instead of presenting serious policies for the north coast,” accused Raquel Coelho in a press statement.
Concluding, she added, “the executive continues to prioritise publicity and useless megaprojects instead of investing in what truly matters for the north coast, which is now increasingly threatened by real estate pressure.”
