Beach Access Closed

MarFrente has confirmed that the promenade between Areeiro beach and Câmara de Lobos is closed, due to strong sea agitation, and entry into this area is forbidden.

Restrictions are expected to remain in place until the end of the week, with sea conditions worsening on Thursday and Friday.

The Madeira Archipelago will be under an orange warning between 15:00 and 19:00 on Thursday due to sea agitation, with waves expected to reach between 5 and 7 metres; however, due to worsening conditions, waves could reach 12 metres in height.

The Captain of the port of Funchal has announced the following security precautions:

Avoid walking by the sea or in areas exposed to sea agitation, such as the protection jetties of ports, cliffs, or beaches, to avoid being swept away by a rogue wave.

Do not practice recreational fishing, especially near the cliffs and cliff areas frequently hit by the breaking waves, always bearing in mind that in these conditions the sea can easily reach apparently safe areas.
