The rescue of a woman who fell and became entangled in a tree, on a precipice of more than 100 metres, in Levada do Caldeirão Verde, started this afternoon.
As far as JM was able to ascertain, only the tree prevented the woman from falling to her death.
Thirteen operatives from the Santana Fire Department were sent to the scene, supported by three vehicles. The helicopter support team was also sent to assist.
Fortunately, firefighters arrived at the scene and reached the victim. From there, she was taken to a location where a helicopter could land and was then flown to safety.
