On Saturday, the 30th of August, between 10:00 and 12:00, the Funchal Ecological Park will host one of its Saturday at the Park sessions. This month’s topic is dedicated to the traditional uses of Madeiran plants.
According to the Funchal City Council, plants have always played a fundamental role in human life, whether medicinal, food, or for cultural purposes. During this session, participants will be able to identify endemic species and learn about their historical uses.
The talk will be overseen by biologist Susana Fontinha, PhD in biology, who is passionate about nature and, in particular, flora. She is also the author of the programme ‘Our Plants: Uses and Customs of Madeira,’ which is broadcast by RTP Madeira.
Participation is free, but subject to prior registration, as spaces are limited to 30 people. For those wishing to take part, please use the following link to register your interest. https://forms.gle/2kzMYVth3VBwrXzz7 For more information, please contact: pecof@funchal.pt

10:00 – Theoretical talk/introduction
10:30 – Field trip for direct observation of the plants
As always, please wear sensible shoes, clothing, and bottled water.
