The green corridor at Madeira International Airport is now open to tourists who have been either vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19, and who present a 90-day proof of validity.
The decision represents a vote of confidence in the new phase that the world is experiencing, in addition to encouraging tourists back to the island and stimulating economic activity while keeping Madeira a safe destination.
To benefit from the ‘green corridor’ tourists who fall into the two categories must prove their current status through one of two documents. A proof of vaccination and proof of recovery must be submitted on the app madeirasafe.com before the trip is made. The app is in English. In addition, applicants must submit their passport number or validated vaccination certificate which must contain details of country of origin, as well as name, date of birth, health number, type and date of the test, type of vaccine, date of the two doses taken and that the vaccine immunisation period has been adhered to.
As for tourists who have recovered from covid-19, they must present a document, valid for 90 days, that proves their recovery. It must specify the type of test, the date of its performance and the word “recovered” on the document.
It should be noted that the green corridor has been in force for some time and was initially intended for those who arrived in the archipelago with a valid negative test.
