At least eight flights bound for Madeira Airport had been diverted by early Saturday evening, 12th of September, as strong winds of up to 60 km/h continued to disrupt landings.
Three flights, from Nice, London Gatwick and Amsterdam, landed in Porto Santo. Flights from Geneva and London Stansted were diverted to Tenerife South, while services from Lyon and Katowice landed in Gran Canaria. A flight from Brussels was diverted to Lisbon.
Several other flights, including services from Lanzarote, Lisbon, Manchester and Tenerife, were delayed. Aircraft were also waiting to see whether conditions would allow them to land in Madeira.
Passengers should check the status of their flight with their airline before travelling to the airport.
