Woodland Guitarist Identified by IFCN

The IFCN has confirmed that the Forest Police has identified an individual who used sound equipment to play and sing in the Park Florestal das Queimadas, located in the municipality of Santana. This is an area integrated within the Natural Park of Madeira, and is a protected area with specific rules of use.

In a statement, the Institute of Forests and Conservation of Nature (IFCN) categorically states that any activity that involves the use of equipment or other actions that may disturb the tranquility and balance of the ecosystem requires prior authorisation. This measure aims to safeguard the fauna, the flora, and the experience of visitors looking to spend time in a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

IFCN President Manuel Filipe reinforces the importance of compliance with the standards established for protected areas.

“The forest is a common good that must be respected by all. Negligent behaviour can have serious consequences for the environmental balance and everyone’s safety,” states Manuel Filipe

He further stresses that the IFCN has been strengthening the means of surveillance and awareness on the ground, calling for the collaboration of all citizens in the preservation of Madeira’s natural heritage.” Concluding, he adds:

“Everyone must take responsibility for protecting our environment, complying with the rules, and reporting bad/anti-social behaviours.”
