Covid-19 – New Restrictive Measures Could Come into Force

While talking to journalists at the inauguration of MAMMA – Museum of Modern Art of Madeira, yesterday morning, the President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, confirmed that the current restrictive measures will remain in place, and if the numbers of positive cases continue to increase, he will not hesitate to introduce new restrictive measures.

However, he did say that the increase in the number of cases was expected, due to the return of students from the mainland, and the number of tourists arriving in Madeira each day.

This is all very well, but stronger measures need to be taken to ensure that everyone adheres to the pandemic health and safety rules, including wearing face masks, hand washing and social distancing, and that visitors and residents have to abide by the rules.
