The lottery to decide who will be the first to be vaccinated against Covid has been won by…….. ‘It’s a surprise!’ So says Pedro Ramos, the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection.
When questioned, the health secretary refused to say who the health professional is. All he did say was that there is a Pfizer health technician at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital who is training staff on how to administer the vaccine.
Reporters later questioned him on the new strain, asking what changes will be made to the vaccination plan and the 2021 Covid prevention measures, to which he replied:
Firstly, all those suffering from the new Covid variant are in prophylactic isolation.
Secondly, those who violated the rules (such as the couple who managed to travel to Madeira) and who were prevented from leaving the airport have returned to their country of origin.
Thirdly: UK tourists are prohibited from travelling to Madeira.
