A video, released on social networks, shows an individual parachuting into the area of Eira do Serrado, in Curral das Freiras. The jump took place on the 7th of January, raising doubts as to the legality of the practice in that location.
The images, shared online, show the moment of the jumper in flight and landing just outside the sports field.
When contacted by DN, the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), IP-RAM, under the supervision of the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture, clarified that the area in question “is not managed” by them.
In turn, the Câmara de Lobos City Council stated that the municipal executive did not have prior knowledge of the activity and assured that no license request was made to perform the base jump in that particular area.
