The body of a man was found floating in the sea off Câmara de Lobos this morning.
According to a statement issued by the National Maritime Authority, an alert was raised at 10:55 this morning by a crew member from one of the maritime-tourist vessels operating nearby. Officers from the Funchal Lifeguard Station, elements of the Local Command of the Funchal Maritime Police, and the Judiciary Police were immediately sent to the scene.
Upon arrival at the scene, the crew of the Lifeguard Station removed the victim from the water and brought him back to the Funchal pier, where his death was confirmed by the Health Delegate.
“After the Judiciary Police took steps and contacted the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the body was transported to the Medical-Legal and Forensic Office of Madeira,” states a press release.
The Local Command of the Maritime Police of Funchal took care of the occurrence.
