“It can’t be! No way! We can’t accept it!”
This is the message left by the CGTP about the labour package proposed by the government of the Republic. Therefore, the Madeira CGTP is calling on drivers to honk their disapproval of the new measures by gathering near the Barreiros Stadium at 17:00 on the 19th of September and driving en masse towards the Legislative Assembly.
Nelson Pereira, from the Union of Civil Service Workers, appealed this morning to all Madeiran workers to stand up for their rights.
“Never, since the 25th of April, has there been such serious measures against workers,” stressed the trade unionist.
Unionists state that the new labour package advocates: Lower wages, job precariousness, easier dismissals, deregulation of working hours, attack on maternity and paternity rights, destruction of collective bargaining, muzzling of unions, and the right to strike… among others.
