Tourists were once again seen ignoring safety signs at the Guindaste Viewpoint in Faial on Monday, venturing close to the cliff edge to take photographs or enjoy the view.
Images shared on social media show visitors entering a restricted area despite the clearly visible warnings. Such behaviour has become a recurring problem at the popular tourist attraction.
Some visitors reportedly crossed into the prohibited area to pose for photographs, while others did so simply to admire the scenery.
Due to the viewpoint’s proximity to a cliff, ignoring the safety restrictions puts visitors at serious risk of injury or death and compromises the safety of search and rescue teams.
