The CDU criticised the operation of the Santo da Serra Market, blaming the Municipality of Santa Cruz for the problems that, according to the party, continue to affect traders and customers despite the recent improvement works.
During a contact action with vendors and visitors to the market, the coalition claims to have collected several complaints relating to the operating conditions of the venue.
The CDU claims that one of the main issues is the newly installed roof, which supposedly fails to meet the market building’s needs during rainy days. They also point out that some areas remain closed.
The coalition also criticises the fees set by the municipality, as well as the charges for accessing water and electricity. The CDU claims these costs hinder the work of many vendors, especially small-scale farmers and family-run agricultural businesses.
Faced with this situation, the CDU expresses support for the demands presented by the stallholders and the public that frequents the market.
For the party, the Municipality of Santa Cruz should strengthen the dialogue with the users of the space and demonstrate greater sensitivity to the problems faced by the region’s micro and small agricultural producers.
