New Walking Status Information Site

Madeira Tourism has improved the way information on the status of the Institute of Forests and Conservation (IFCN), Classified Walking Routes, is presented on its official website, making it more accessible and relevant.

This update allows tourists, guides, operators, and tourist entertainment companies will now have access to fast, reliable, and centralised information about the conditions of the Region’s trails, facilitating the safe and efficient planning of walking activities.

The new feature is integrated into various strategic points of the site – from the home page and information carousels, to the specific pages of each route, search results and interactive map of the hiking section – allowing people to visualise, through graphics, the routes that are open, conditioned or closed, which ensures greater visibility and navigation facilitates. This development translates into a direct contribution to the organisation of tour operators and for the promotion of a more fluid, safe, and informed platform, reinforcing the digital strategy to promote Destination Madeira, and provide a pleasurable walking experience for citizens and visitors alike.

The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture and President of the Madeira Promotion Association, Eduardo Jesus, says that this new functionality of VisitMadeira.com “strengthens our commitment to more effective, clear, user-centered communication.  He then went on to praise the environmental awareness that is increasingly evident in the promotion of the destination.

“The work that has been developed at the level of the dissemination of the destination aims to significantly improve the experience of visitors, promote outdoor activity safety, and value nature tourism.”
