Italian perfumer Mariaceleste Lombardo will be in Madeira from the 3rd to the 7th of May to work with Água da Madeira in the creation of two new fragrances, inspired by the endemic flora of the island. During their stay, Mariaceleste Lombardo and Myriam Wattiez, owner of the brand, will explore landscapes such as the Laurissilva forest and coastal gardens, seeking to capture Madeira’s unique aromatic profile.
The collaboration, according to a press release from Água da Madeira, reinforces the brand’s commitment to “interpreting the soul of Madeira Island” through its perfumes.
Born in Sicily, Mariaceleste Lombardo grew up “among orange blossoms and jasmine, surrounded by vineyards, flowering meadows and orchards in the sun.” With a degree in Cosmetic Chemistry from the University of Siena and an international diploma in Perfume Creation and Sensory Evaluation obtained from the Grasse Institute of Perfumery, she believes that “wearing perfume is to communicate” and that “what will our olfactory aura must be chosen with awareness, because it announces us to others and leaves a living memory of us.”
For Mariaceleste Lombardo, the harmony of a composition depends on the balance between the ingredients or their intensity and olfactory depth, in an extremely fragile balance that must be supported and pursued with patience and dedication.
Since 2021, she has been part of the team of perfumers at Moellhausen. Her training includes experience in quality control, research, and development of fragrances, aiming to create sensations that are fixed in the memory and are not ephemeral.
