‘Sustainability’ at Madeira Beer Company

Nuno Freitas, from the Madeira Beer Company (ECM), addressed the ‘Implementation of the Circular Economy’ at a seminar titled  ‘Circular Madeira, Circular Models, and Strategies in Companies’ at the Madeira Electricity Museum.

“Since 2013, all glass bottles are fully returnable,” he explained, assuring all those present that the company’s commitment to “the environment goes far beyond what we often have in support,” stressing that in terms of sustainability, “everything is done that is feasibly possible.”

An example of this is that “we have 3,000 photovoltaic panels, in about 5,200 square meters, and with this, we guarantee that 25% of the energy needs of the Madeira Beer Company, which includes the renewal of the car fleet and integrating more and more electric cars into the fleet is powered by energy produced by the ECM.
