Hoteliers Advised on Water Management

FUNCHAL SENSITIZES HOTELIERS TO THE CORRECT USE OF URBAN WASTEWATER NETWORKS

The Municipality of Funchal carried out a marine impact awareness seminar based at hoteliers operating along the capital’s coastline.

This action is part of a set of measures that the municipality of Funchal is developing with the population, within the scope of the correct use of urban wastewater drainage networks (domestic and rainwater), stating that everyone has a responsibility to protect the city’s infrastructure.

The Municipality of Funchal warns that these systems should not be used as “rubbish bins.”  People need to be more aware of what should not be placed in the basic sanitation networks; this includes food and cooking oil, medicines, wipes, nappies, and cotton swabs.

This initiative was attended by MarFunchal Councillor Bruno Pereira, Councillor for the Environment Nádia Coelho, and 14 representatives from 34 hotel units.
