Several branches of the Regional Authority for Economic Activities (ARAE), accompanied by Public Security Police (PSP) officers were making their presence known in Machico this morning.
For the moment, the aim to create greater awareness of the need to wear a face mask and observe social distancing rules, as well as ensuring that establishments only admit the recommended number of people at any one time. However, fines will be given to those caught breaking the rules.
Despite the new rules due to the increase number of Covid cases within the parish, Machico was operating normally this morning, and people were adhering to the rules.
