The President of Madeira has announced a new set of measures that will take effect as of tomorrow and next Monday, the 2nd of May.
he President of the Regional Government admitted today that the restrictive measures used to contain the pandemic could be eased as of next Monday, as numbers have stabilised. However, this all depends on how the number of cases evolve over the coming week.
The Vice-President of the Regional Government (RG), Pedro Calado, tentatively admitted today that the restrictive measures imposed in the RG could be eased from next week.
Just to ensure that everyone is aware, the current curfew conditions have been extended until the 26th of April. This is to allow the Regional Government to assess any sudden peaks in the number of daily active cases due to the return of face-to-face classes.
According to a survey by the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Similar Establishments of Portugal (AHRESP), approximately 36% of the catering companies questioned stated that they will have to file for insolvency, while a further 46% said that they were teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and exploring insolvency possibilities.
