SEF Strike Could Seriously Affect Tourism

The President of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT), Pedro Costa Ferreira, has worryingly stated that the Foreigners and Border Service (SEF) announcement that they intend to carry out industrial action at many national airports, including Madeira, the Azores, Faro or Lisbon, is already being queried by travel operators, especially British tour operators, who at the moment are considered to be a national lifeline. 

Return of the Cruise Liners

Cruise liner, MS World Voyager, operated by Nicko Cruises, is set to make a return to Madeira, and will dock in Funchal harbour on the 9th of June.  However, according to local newspaper, JM, the ship will depart from Funchal harbour on an eight day cruise from Madeira - Azores - Madeira. 

Passengers Receive Covid Rules Leaflets

Passengers disembarking in Portugal's airports will now receive an information leaflet advising them of all the rules that are to be followed during their stay, such as mandatory mask wearing, curfew hours and the maximum capacity of bars, restaurants, terraces as well as advising that local municipality rules can change on a weekly basis. 

Associação Womaniza-te Website Launch

Established in 2020, Madeiran Associação Womaniza-te, will launch its website at 6 pm on the 22nd of May.  The aim of the website is to gather information on dating violence, so that the association can support and educate young girls many of whom may either be subjected to, or believe that violence in a relationship is normal (There was a recent study which showed that 7/10 girls thought relationship violence was acceptable.)
