Volta recycling in the supermarkets

2500 Volta systems (https://volta.com.pt/en/) have been distributed in Portugal mainland, the Azores and Madeira. On Madeira, most of them will be found in the supermarkets. Clients can drop empty plastic bottles (water, juices etc.) and aluminium cans with a maximum of 3l – important, not crushed, without liquids, and with the top on it– into the machines. Milk containers or glass bottles are recycled in other ways. The system checks the bar code and spits out a credit receipt for the cashier.

Portugal is not bad at recycling and on an island, this is even more important.
