The councillors of Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) in the Funchal City Council are hosting a public debate at the Barceló Hotel, located at Rua da Alfândega, n.º 9, at 18:00 tomorrow, under the title ‘The new Regulation of Local Lodging in Funchal,’ within the scope of the Funchal 360 initiative.
The debate will feature the participation of Bruno Martins, architect and former councillor of the Funchal City Council, with consolidated experience in urban planning; Bruno Tavares, from Imobiliária SER, bringing the perspective of the real estate market and its effects on access to housing; and Leonardo Reis, Local Accommodation entrepreneur, who has practical experience in the reality of the tourism sector.
With this initiative, the JPP intends to strengthen a space for informed and constructive reflection, leading to more balanced and sustained decisions about the future of Funchal. The session takes place at a time when the proposal for the Municipal Regulation for the Management of Local Accommodation is in the public consultation phase, representing an opportunity for the active participation of citizens and different agents in the sector in a matter that directly impacts housing, tourism, and the local economy.
The JPP is keen to stress that the proposal under public consultation “is the exclusive responsibility of the PSD/CDS majority, and no proposal from the other parties represented on the council has been consecrated or accepted.”
Participation is open to the public, upon prior registration, through the following platforms: https://forms.gle/tJqRo9bVZx8jdzQd9. E-mail: fucnhal@juntospelopovo.pt or telephone 938 945 487.
