New Scam Alert

This afternoon, several citizens took to social media to warn others about a group of individuals going door to door, posing as employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

In the report, it is indicated that the people in question “have documents and letterheads from the Ministry and claim that they need to verify that everyone has a valid identification document for the next census, and then ‘steal’ the person’s identity.

They also say that these people “are everywhere and are well dressed.”

People who have been targeted are warning others to be cautious and not fall for this scam. Online users report that someone might show up at your home claiming they need to take your photo or fingerprint. In this scheme, they carry a laptop, a biometric device, and a list of names, which they display while asking for your personal information. This is a scam—never share your personal data, or allow your photo or fingerprint to be taken.
