Illegal Immigrants Detained

Chega’s candidacy for the Funchal City Council has issued a statement praising the actions of the Public Security Police (PSP) in the arrest of three illegal immigrants.

This operation demonstrates, in the party’s opinion, “the professionalism, dedication and courage of authority agents, who daily face risks to ensure the safety of Funchal families and the tranquility of society”.

Taking advantage of the context, Chega reaffirms its “unconditional support for the security forces” and recalls that illegal immigration constitutes “a serious threat to public order, social justice and the future of the City, the Region and Portugal.”.”It is therefore urgent to strengthen the PSP and all security forces with more means, more protection and more recognition, so that they can continue to carry out their mission effectively.”

For LuĂs Filipe Santos, candidate for Funchal City Council, “this action by the PSP proves that when there is authority, there is security. Funchal cannot continue to be an uncontrolled port of entry. We need to give the police more resources and less complacency with illegal immigration. Those who live and work here deserve respect and peace of mind.”

“While others choose to turn a blind eye to this problem, Chega is and will always be on the side of those who defend Funchal and institutions such as the PSP, which put the city, the region, the homeland and the Portuguese first,” stressing that “the city of Funchal needs order, authority and respect for the law. This will always be my priority as a candidate and will always be the fight of Chega,” concludes LuĂs Filipe Santos.
