SESARAM Pharmacists Strike

Adherence to the strike by SESARAM pharmacists reached 100%.

In view of the strike called by the National Union of Pharmacists, “the minimum services were provided by four pharmacists.”

In a statement, SESARAM noted:

“SESARAM recognises the right to strike on the part of pharmacists, but joining the strike has caused some constraints for users, namely in terms of immediate access to their medication.”

According to the same body, one of the direct consequences of the strike was to ensure the operation of the Oncology Pharmacy only by call. However, whenever contacted either by telephone or by the professionals – nurses or administrative staff of the Hemato Day Hospital – Oncology, the pharmacists went to the Service to dispense the essential medicines.

“The same happened at the General Outpatient Clinic located in front of the Emergency Service, where users called the number 291705600 or went to the User Support Office, which contacted the pharmacy, and the duty pharmacist delivered the urgent medication.”

Concluding, SESARAM said:

“Of the 28 pharmacists who were scheduled to work today, 27 of those decided to strike. We regret the inconvenience caused since the minimum services determined for strike days inevitably generate patient constraints.”
