The Regional Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Environment, Rafaela Fernandes, was with the President of the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), Manuel Filipe this morning in Paul da Serra on what was the first day of hunting in the Region.
On the occasion, she learned about the Forestry Police’s preparation for the hunting season.
In a statement, Rafaela Fernandes pointed out:
“Hunting is an important activity, but with some particularities, so it is important to comply with the current safety rules, starting with the hunters themselves and the people who accompany them. This activity sometimes involves the use of dogs. All canines used in this ‘sport’ must be treated and transported in conditions that respect animal welfare.”
To date, 585 hunting licenses have been requested, and all activity is accompanied by Forestry police officers, who supervise and ensure that everyone complies with the law.
