State of Calamity – Curfew Will Continue

Miguel Albuquerque said today that he not only approves the Republic’s decision to decree a ‘State of Calamity,’ but that it allows for the curfew to continue.  He confirmed this by saying:

‘As the State of Calamity allows for the erection of security fences, it obviously endorses restriction of movement. That is our understanding.  Furthermore, the Constitutional Court has not made a ruling against limiting freedom of movement for reasons of public health.”

Regarding the five people per table in restaurants limitation, the President said that this will not be changed, because public health is at stake. These are the rules, whoever wants to go out, has to adapt to these rules, which are in line with health authority guidelines.
