The European Commissioner for Fisheries and Oceans, Costas Kadis, will be in the Region tomorrow (Tuesday, the 21st of July), where he will have the opportunity to understand the challenges facing the Region’s fisheries sector.
According to information provided by the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries, Costas Kadis will visit the fish market in Funchal at 08:15 am, where, accompanied by Regional Secretary Nuno Maciel, he will speak to fisheries workers.
It should be noted that the visit coincides with Madeira continuing to defend, with European institutions, the need to review the rules that prevent the renewal of the Region’s fishing fleet.
The Region intends to ensure more modern, safe and efficient vessels, providing better working conditions for fishermen, without compromising the sustainability of the activity.
