Strong winds are once again disrupting air operations at Madeira International Airport, causing flight cancellations and forcing aircraft to divert to other airports.
By early this afternoon, 13 flights had already been cancelled, seven arrivals and six departures, due to strong gusts that continue to disrupt approaches and landings on the island.
Besides the cancellations already noted, strong winds also caused several planes to be diverted to other airports. Among them were EW Discover’s 4Y702 from Frankfurt, scheduled to arrive at 2:45 pm, and TUIFly’s X3 2830 from Hannover, which was set to land at 2:55 pm.
According to meteorological data, the strongest gust was 81 km/h this morning.
