Elements of the Local Command of the Maritime Police of Funchal, in collaboration with ANACOM (National Communications Authority), conducted a joint inspection operation aimed at coastal stations and various types of ships and vessels on the island of Madeira.
The operation, which took place between the 5th and 7th of May, aimed to verify the compliance of radiocommunication equipment, as well as compliance with the legal safety and licensing standards in force, contributing to the safety of human life at sea and the reliability of maritime communications.
As part of the action, 14 vessels and two coastal stations were inspected, and irregularities were detected in a recreational boat, two container ships, and smaller ships, as well as a maritime-tourist vessel.
In a statement, the Maritime Police explained that 12 elements of the local command and 12 ANACOM inspectors were engaged in the operation, in an institutional cooperation that aimed to strengthen the monitoring of the national maritime space and ensure compliance with the technical standards required for safe navigation and reliable communications.
