VivaCidade – Funchal Urban Festival

Between the 16th and 18th of April, the city of Funchal will host its 4th urban festival, ‘VivaCidade.’ A  cultural initiative that boosts Funchal’s profile through a diverse artistic programme.

The project, the result of a municipal investment of around 30 thousand euros, aims to transform emblematic public spaces in Funchal into stages for music, theatre, dance, circus arts, and other cultural expressions, involving local artists and providing unique experiences to residents and visitors.

For three days, ‘VivaCidade’ will promote various artistic expressions at four different times (17:00, 17:30, 18:00, and 18:30) in six iconic points of Funchal, namely in Praça do Carmo, Largo do Chafariz, Rua Dr. Fernão de Ornelas, Miradouro de São Roque, Miradouro do Parque de Santa Catarina, and Miradouro de São Gonçalo.

One of the programme highlights is the ‘Streets that Speak,’ which this year will be presented under the title ‘Madeira Nights’ and will take place in Santa Catarina Park. The event will involve hundreds of people and promises to capture the attention of thousands of local passers-by, providing a unique cultural experience.
