The São Pedro festivities, in Ribeira Brava, ended badly for a 24-year-old Public Security Police (PSP) agent, who, like thousands of other people, was off duty and just wanted to enjoy a few moments of leisure.
According to JM, the police officer was lured away from the main gathering and stabbed at around 04:00 this morning. The causes of the attack remain unclear. According to Correia da Manhã, the Judiciary Police has already identified the perpetrator of the stabbing, who will be presented in court tomorrow.
The PSP agent was rescued on the spot and urgently transported to the hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition. He was operated on today and, according to information, the operation was a success although he is still in a serious condition.
The young police officer works in Lisbon but will remain in Madeira for the time being.
