The Portuguese Association of People with Special Needs – Associação Sem Limites has confirmed that the Social Security Institute has approved the automatic granting of disability pensions.
“Therefore, when the Disability Verification System certifies a disability equal to or greater than 60%, it is possible for those affected to contact Social Security Direct and request their disability pension.
These integrated measures in the “digital Social Security transformation programme aim to modernise and improve the efficiency of services. Associations hope that it will soon cover other services, to facilitate and improve access for people with disabilities and their families.”
