Book Fair Sales Double

The Funchal Book Fair, which ended yesterday, the 10th, has sold twice as many books (10,057) compared to 2023, (5,000),  creating a turnover of around 65,000 euros.

Talking to reporters, a spokesperson for the Funchal City Council (CMF) enthused:

“This is proof that public policies in the promotion of reading and books are working and Madeirans are reading more books, with children’s books, novels, detective novels, and books related to regional culture being the most sought after.”

This was also the largest edition ever, in terms of support for the publication of new works, with 10 books edited and supported, three more than the previous year. More than 250 people participated in the 55 events that made up the programme.
