After a survey by the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) on the walking routes in both Madeira and Porto Santo, they have announced that five paths are closed due to degradation caused by bad weather.
Thus, the Levada do Barreiro, Vereda da Ribeira da Janela, Caminho do Pináculo e Folhadal, Vereda do Jardim do Mar and Levada da Azenha are closed.
Conversely, there is already a considerable list of routes that are already open:

- PR 3 – Levada do Pico do Castelo (Porto Santo) – It is partially open – only the section between Camacha and the Chapel of Grace, the rest of the route is closed (tunnel).
However, given that the classified walking routes are located in areas subject to a strong climatic pressure and consequent natural erosion, the IFCN warns everyone to exercise caution when walking along the routes.
