Trapped Turtle Rescued in Porto Moniz

On Sunday, the 21st of May, a Loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) was rescued in the port of Porto Moniz by a team of IFCN officers.

According to the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), the animal weighing 38 kilos and measuring 60 cm was caught in fishing nets and ropes.

After careful removal, the turtle was transported and placed in the care of the Marine Biology Station, for treatment and observation.

The IFCN, therefore, asks everyone to help them and report any wild animal in distress or danger, to their SOS Wildlife line: https://ifcn.madeira.gov.pt/…/rede-sos-vida-selvagem.html.
